La Fregate Hotel Collioure Review
My quick hotel review for those in a hurry:
One of the oldest and most central hotels in Collioure, La Fregate was founded in 1923, and has a fantastic fish restaurant below, so you can be assured that you will be well fed and watered.
What’s it like?
La Fregate is a mid-range bed & breakfast that is on the main thoroughfare going down to the beachfront and with views of Collioure Castle.
The rooms are clean, small and modern and have double glazing and air conditioning.
We were able to visit the hotel only for a short period of time due to the staff being very busy and we were not allowed to take photographs or collect more information on the history of the hotel and building, so this review is shorter than other hotel reviews.
If La Fregate would like me to return to make a more detailed interview and photography of the hotel, they can get in touch with me.
My Deep Dive Review of La Fregate Hotel Collioure
Ok, so this isn’t quite as a deeper dive into the hotel because sadly the hotel did not have the time to discuss the history of the hotel and building, as well as any anecdotes or context of the hotel over its many years in the life of Collioure’s history. Maybe they will in future!
We were allowed to visit a room, but not to take any photography.
The rooms are clean, small and modern and have double glazing and air conditioning.
What I liked about La Fregate Hotel Collioure:
Location! Location! Location! The hotel is on the corner of the main promenade down to the beachfront as well as the main street of Collioure, so the whole of Collioure is on your doorstep and the Wednesday Market, which is a stone’s throw away.
The food! We have dined at La Fregate’s restaurant multiple times over the many years of visiting Collioure and you can always count on it for reliably great cooking – both fish and meat – as well as good service.
Bedroom: It’s a modern bedroom with nice beds and all the mod cons: tea & coffee, air conditioning and is light and clean.
Bathroom: Ditto – the bathroom was to a high standard (from memory) and of a decent size.
What I liked less about La Fregate Hotel Collioure:
I wasn’t able to do such a thorough review as we did not have very little time allotted and were only able to view the Penthouse Suite, which is not so indicative of all the rooms, as well as not being allowed to take any photographs. No other hotel did this in our comprehensive tour of Collioure’s hotels.
I thought the rooms were modern and clean, but it would have been nice to see some of La Fregate’s rich history shine through in the rooms, which sadly lacked much charm, but made up for it with good air conditioning and double glazing.
