Le Mas de Citronniers Collioure Hotel Review

My quick hotel review for those in a hurry:

Long established classic hotel in the centre of Collioure, Le Mas de Citronniers Hotel, was originally a large family home that once surrounded by lemon trees (hence the name!).

What’s it like?

Le Mas de Citronniers Hotel is a good choice for its location, a nice breakfast and good value. The rooms are clean and quiet and have all you need for a great holiday in Collioure, though they are small and somehow the hotel didn’t capture my imagination – it was a bit conventional and lacking character.

Having said that, I would vote for double glazing, clean rooms and a good breakfast over character – any day of the week! And Le Mas de Citronniers is a stone’s throw from the beach and thoroughfare down to the waterfront.

My Deep Dive Review of Le Mas de Citronniers Collioure Hotel

Mas des Citronniers Hotel Collioure Front

One of Collioure’s larger hotels, with 30 rooms, it must have made for an imposing family home in Collioure’s early 20th century heyday surrounded by lemon trees and with the beautiful Casa Pairal home as neighbours.

I think I’ve been a bit hard on Le Mas de Citronniers by saying it lacks character, but it looks very “hotel-y” compared with a lot of other of Collioure’s more quirkier options.

But, it does have a lot going for it…

The breakfasts for a start. For this price bracket, I thought the breakfast was good with a wide range of local patisseries and breads, fruits, cheeses and hams – all locally sourced.

The parking is free – another big plus – though, just to note that there are only 12 spaces (so you should enquire in advance if you can reserve a spot).

The rooms are well thought out and have everything you need – along with being quiet and clean.

So, all in all, Le Mas de Citronniers is a smart choice – it’s just that you may not remember the hotel that much after you get back – you’ll be thinking back to walking Collioure’s alleys, diving into the bay and wining and dining – and that’s the point of a holiday!

What I liked about Le Mas de Citronniers:

“It does everything it says on the tin”. A classic no nonsense French hotel, professional, and accomplished – good breakfast, free parking, good value, well thought out rooms.

What I liked less about Le Mas de Citronniers:

It’s a little dull, rooms are small, it’s nothing to write home about, but it should be a good base for your trip to Collioure.
