Collioure Market
Everything You Need To Know

One of the real pleasures in life is Collioure’s bustling market, which takes place every week on Wednesday and Sunday mornings. It’s a must see, but also must buy! My only ask is that you buy something when you’re at the market since you often see tourist just taking photos and fabulous markets like this are “use it or lose it”, so do buy some of their local produce when you visit.

Held every Wednesday and Sunday morning at Place du Maréchal Leclerc, opposite the war memorial and facing the Collioure Mediatheque, the Collioure market is a festive, colourful experience that captures the essence of local life and the richness of Catalan traditions.

So, every Wednesday and Sunday, come rain or shine, from the early morning hours, Place du Maréchal Leclerc transforms into a bustling marketplace. With around 50 stalls, the market stretches along the scenic canal, offering a unique shopping environment in the shadow of the historic château.

My biggest tip for you is to arrive early. This is because that nearby parking fills quickly and the market can often get crowded later, but the early effort is well rewarded with the market's lively atmosphere and the array of local products on offer.

Visitors to Collioure’s market can indulge in the true taste of the region, with stalls brimming with sun-ripened fruits and vegetables sold directly by the producers. The market is also food lover's paradise offering an assortment of local specialties such as charcuterie, regional wines, freshly pressed olive oils, local cheeses, and artisan breads. Those with a sweet tooth can delight in homemade jams and honey, all sourced locally from the 66 Department!

While the food is undoubtedly a draw, the market also features an impressive selection of local crafts. Artisans from around the region present their work, ranging from ceramic dishes to handcrafted soaps and textiles, which make for perfect souvenirs or gifts that carry the essence of Collioure back home and help a small local business.

But, the market is more than just a place to shop; it's a cultural hub. On any given market day, especially in the summer, visitors might encounter street musicians or even a traditional Sardane dance adding a festive note to the market’s vibrant atmosphere.

Besides the regular bi-weekly markets on Wednesday and Sunday, Collioure also hosts special Night Markets during the summer.

The Night Markets are normally held on specific Tuesdays in July and August at the Port d'Avall from 5 pm to 11 pm, but I strongly recommend that you check with the Office du Tourisme first to be sure.

These evening markets showcase around twenty or thirty carefully selected local creators who are eager to share their crafts ranging from ceramics to textiles.

Then, after exploring the market, I’d recommend a coffee on the beachfront and then lunch later at one of the many restaurant dotted across Collioure. Check out our restaurant guide!

After lunch, it’s probably a good idea then walk off your meal by strolling through Collioure’s charming, narrow streets and the promenade.

So, Wednesdays and Sundays are great days to come to Collioure! Whether you're a foodie, a lover of fine crafts or simply in search of a lively cultural experience, the Collioure market offers something for everyone and encapsulating the charm and diversity of Collioure.
